WORKSWELL CONSULTING
Build the systems that make your people better.
Leadership and organizational development for mission-driven organizations ready to move from assumptions to reality.
The Reality Leaders Are Facing
Running a mission-driven organization is meaningful work, but leading people is rarely as straightforward as it should be. Many leaders are working hard to build strong teams, yet something still feels misaligned beneath the surface.
You might recognize some of these moments:
Promotion Doesn’t Always Mean Leadership Readiness
You promoted someone because they were excellent at their job. Now they’re responsible for a team and struggling to lead people, not just manage tasks.
Priorities Keep Getting Lost
You’ve explained the priorities clearly, more than once.
Yet projects stall, communication breaks down, and teams move in different directions.
Decisions Are Made Without the Full Picture
Critical decisions are being made without clear visibility into what’s really happening across the organization, leaving leaders to rely on assumptions instead of insight.
Managers Feel Stuck in the Middle
Your managers are caught between expectations from leadership and pressure from their teams.
They want to do well, but they don’t always have the tools or systems to succeed.
Accountability Conversations Feel Difficult
Performance issues linger longer than they should.
Leaders hesitate to address them directly, and small problems slowly become bigger ones.
THE SHIFT
From Assumption to Reality
Most organizations operate on assumptions that haven’t been tested. Leaders believe their teams understand the priorities, that managers have the skills to lead, and that culture will self-correct.
The Decision Reality Loop closes the gap between what you think is happening and what’s actually true, so you can stop managing around people and start building with them.
Services Designed for Real Organizational Change
We partner with executive directors and CEOs of mission-driven organizations to build the people infrastructure that drives stronger performance, clearer leadership, and sustainable organizational growth.
Through a combination of assessments, leadership development, and operational systems, we help organizations move from guesswork to clarity, so leaders can make better decisions and teams can do their best work.
Culture & Leadership Capacity Assessments
Measure what people actually think about their manager, their role, and the organization. No guessing. No filtered feedback. Just the truth you need to make informed decisions.
Middle Management Training
Managers have the highest impact on workplace experience—and most were never trained to lead. We build core people leadership skills through practical, action-oriented training that changes how managers show up.
Operations & Systems Implementation
Strategy without implementation is just a plan. We don't hand you a report and leave. We build the systems with you, performance review processes, accountability structures, and communication frameworks, and help you run them until they stick.
Predictive Index Training & Tools
As a licensed PI partner, we bring behavioral assessment tools that help leaders understand team dynamics, optimize roles, and make smarter hiring and development decisions.
Executive Coaching & Leadership Development Programs
Through trusted partners and the Catalyst for Change leadership program, we offer coaching and development that builds confident, capable leaders at every level.
How We Work Together
This is a partnership, not a transaction. From assessment through implementation and beyond, we are with you.
Strategic sessions
Bi-weekly or monthly 60-minute sessions to build tactical plans, maintain accountability, and keep momentum.
Ongoing support
Email and phone access whenever you need support. We’re not a vendor you hear from once a quarter — we become a trusted extension of your team.
Project-based engagement
We set clear goals tied to your mission and measure progress against what actually matters to your organization.
CASE STUDY
What This Looks Like in Practice
Real organizational change doesn’t happen through ideas alone. It happens through intentional systems, leadership development, and consistent implementation.
The CASA Project of Worcester County
The Challenge
Julie had just stepped into her first Executive Director role. The organization had heart and mission, but lacked the internal systems needed to support leadership development, performance management, and long-term organizational clarity.
There was no clear structure for management training, no formal performance review process, and limited infrastructure to support sustainable growth. As Julie described it, the organization was operating on “instincts and a prayer.”
The Work
Over the course of three years, Melissa partnered closely with CASA to build the people systems the organization needed to grow with greater intention and confidence.
Designed and implemented an annual performance review process
Delivered manager training focused on core leadership skills
Conducted regular team assessments to measure satisfaction, belonging, and organizational health
Built accountability and communication structures that supported both leaders and staff
The partnership became so valuable that CASA later brought Melissa in to manage and lead their performance review process as an external partner.
The Results
The organization experienced measurable growth in leadership confidence, staff support, and organizational clarity. What once felt reactive became intentional.
Leaders gained stronger systems, employees felt more supported, and the organization built a healthier culture where people could thrive while staying connected to the mission.
100% staff retention over 3.5 years
Regular survey results showing high satisfaction and belonging
A leadership team that feels confident and supported
A culture shift from reactive to intentional
WHAT JULIE SAYS ABOUT THE WORK
“Before working with Melissa, our organization was operating on instincts and a prayer when it came to structure and management training. Today, I’m proud to say we’ve maintained a 3.5-year, 100% staff retention rate. Our team feels supported, our leadership feels more confident, and Melissa has truly become an extension of our team.”

About Us
We’re WorksWell Consulting, founded by Melissa Sherry, to help mission-driven leaders build organizations where people can do their best work, not by accident, but by design.
Here’s what makes our work different: We are implementers, not just strategists. We don’t hand you a report and disappear. We build systems with you, train your managers, run your processes, and stay until the work sticks. We think like business leaders and care like humans. We understand P&L, operational efficiency, and growth strategy, and we know that people are how you get there. You don’t have to choose between impact and infrastructure. You need both. We bring the full toolbox: culture assessments, manager training, performance systems, Predictive Index tools, executive coaching partnerships, and leadership academies. Whatever your organization needs, we either offer it directly or bring in trusted partners who do. We are direct, empathetic, and business-minded. We’ll tell you when something isn’t working. We’ll challenge assumptions. We’ll push you to think bigger and get more honest, while respecting the complexity of leading people through change.
Melissa’s Background
Melissa is a Predictive Index Captain, driven, organized, big-picture focused, and naturally wired to lead. She cares deeply about people and believes that people are the engine behind stronger outcomes. As a young woman in a field often dominated by former executives, Melissa brings a fresh perspective, modern tools, and a more human-centered approach to work that has traditionally been overly corporate.
Through WorksWell Consulting, we partner with nonprofits, biotech companies, education organizations, health services, and social-impact companies and leaders who want to do the right thing and are willing to own their role in making it happen.
We work best with leaders who:
• Are willing to own their part in what isn’t working
• Care deeply about their people
• Are open, curious, and willing to challenge assumptions
• Don’t pass the buck down
• Aren’t afraid of change
If that sounds like you, let’s talk.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Imagine this: Six to twelve months from now, you have a repeatable system that actually solves the problem, not a band-aid.
You sleep better at night because there's a real, root solution in place.
You're having more honest conversations with your team. Your 1:1s feel open and productive. People bring you their real challenges, and together, you solve problems faster.
Your managers are more confident. They know how to lead, not just do the work. They can handle difficult conversations. They're developing their teams, not just managing tasks.
You understand what's actually happening in your organization, no guesswork, no isolation. You feel like the captain of your ship.
When change happens, your team is resilient. There's less defiance, less pushback, more buy-in, because the work is aligned with purpose and mission.
Your people feel like they can plug in, contribute meaningfully, and succeed.
That's what we can build together.
READY TO BUILD SOMETHING BETTER?
You don't need another consultant who talks a big game and leaves you with a binder.
You need a partner who understands business and people. Who builds systems that work. Who stays until the work sticks.
